Gorgeous great porcelain vase by Mangani, Florence, Italy, hand-painted with chinoiseries and gold .This pattern can be seen in the Mangani Museum as an iconic model !!! In a perfect condition At the end of the 19th century, the Mangani were a family of sculptors and the art was transmitted from father to son. At the turn of the century, Cesarino Mangani worked in his own workshop in Florence with his five children, taking care of works requested mainly by English, French and American owners of villas in the Florence area. After the crisis of 1929, which as we know swept all sectors of economic and financial life, the workshop was closed. Of the five children, one, Alfiero Mangani, after having worked as a ceramist-sculptor in an important Florentine factory, Zaccagnini, until 1955-56, opens a small ceramic and porcelain restoration workshop in the popular neighborhood of San Frediano in Florence. , assisted by his son, his little one Iván, and as a child in the workshop, by his other son, Lando. Subsequently, the business begins to have requests for porcelain objects and so, with the will and determination of the two brothers, Ivan and Lando, a laboratory is opened in the "Doccia" area in Sesto Fiorentino, he soon takes over the first collaborator/friend who had never worked in ceramics but had been an excellent baker (Piero Borghesi). Territory is already the cradle of a prestigious tradition for porcelain thanks to the existence of the famous Richard Ginori. In this period (1960) his father Alfiero Mangani died. The great turning point comes thanks to a curious destiny that determines the passage from the simple laboratory of the time to the company of today. Some managers of the famous Tiffany house note the features and excellent quality of a porcelain cup, in which the maker's hand is not recognized. Only after an assiduous search do they realize the hand of the master who created it, the Mangani family. An intense collaboration that lasted for years was born thanks to the famous buyer Giovanbattista Giorgini (creator of haute couture in Italy with the first fashion show at Palazzo Pitti, Florence) who assumed the skilful role of intermediary between the two realities. This allows the company to lay the foundations to expand its production with the creation of large collections, from accessories to lighting, through innovative production and decoration techniques. For a long time, Nostro Uncle Furno Mangani worked in our factory after years of experience as a sculptor in Florentine workshops and in the hard stone factory, operating and restoring numerous churches in Italy, including the Monastery of Santa Chiara in Naples, the Cathedral of Bolazano and Florence such as the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Santa Maria Novella and many other works such as the fountain by Niccolò Pisano in Perugia. He started working at the age of 10 until he was forced to quit around the age of 96 through no fault of his own. The heirs of the company's assets are today the children of Lando, Giulia and Lorenzo Mangani, who with the new brand Giulia Mangani Firenze will continue the historical tradition of porcelain in Italy.
