Light Fold Vessel by Laura Pasquino

About the Item

Light Fold Vessel by Laura Pasquino One of a Kind Dimensions: D 42 x H 40 cm Material: Ceramic Finishing: Textured, Glazed Inside Artist stamp on the bottom Laura Pasquino Incorporating references from ancient Korean ceramics as well as principles of Japanese aesthetics of wabi-sabi, I am led by experimentation with the pure shape of the sphere. My works, which include both functional vessels and sculptures, are each infused with precious imperfections and minimalist aesthetic. The clay, often coarse and textured, is sculpted, hand-built or wheel-thrown to create a wide range of effects and surfaces. My work embraces simplicity, asymmetry and beauty in understated. The dents and scars add subtle grace and individuality to every piece of work. To honour the raw material of clay, the works are often left unglazed. Each artwork is crafted by hand from natural stoneware clay compound and is one of a kind. My aim is to give character to the piece, rather than trying to make it perfect. I leave my fingerprints and tool marks as they happen during the creation process. It gives soul to the object and is a trace of me from that particular moment. Every artwork comes with a certificate of authenticity from the artist.

  • Contemporary Gradienti Vase Small, Amethyst-Fuchsia Light by Laura Sattin
    Located in 1204, CH
The collection called ‘Gradienti’ is inspired by the infinite colour nuances of the sky. The technique used to make these vases is called ‘sfumato’, where the goal is to achieve imperceptible transitions between hues of soft colours. Because of the unpredictable behaviour of the colours during melting and during the hot working pro- cess, every vase is different: sometimes the transition from one colour to another is perfectly smooth, other times you can read a clear transition, a kind of horizon. This unpredictable component is what makes each vase unique. To make a piece, two colours of molten glass are combined at the beginning of the glass-making process. They are then dipped in an extra thin layer of transparent glass and mouth-blown into a wooden mould. Finally, the opening of the vase is shaped freehand. After cooling overnight in the kiln, the vases are sandblasted and waxed giving the pieces a satin, smooth and soft surface. Gradient mouth-blown glass, fading from steel blue to warm grey, sandblasted and waxed. This piece has been designed by Laura Sattin...

  • Striped Fold with Inclusions I, Red & Blue Ceramic Vessel by Steven Edwards
    By Steven Edwards
    Located in London, GB
Striped fold with inclusions I is a unique sculpture by the British artist Steven Edwards, created from colored parian porcelain. Steven Edwards is a ceramic artist whose work investigates the language of making through the materiality and physicality of clay. Fascinated by process-led making, he uses traditional techniques that provoke unanticipated outcomes, using clay as a medium that sustains the narrative of the making process. The resulting forms embody his interaction and manipulation of the clay using bespoke tools to explore the intrinsic properties of the material. His creative practice starts by purposely placing clay under stress to reveal the natural tension and movement in its surface and form. Throughout the whole making process, he pushes, pulls, compresses and slices the material to provoke a reaction. The final forms are a combination of these making scenarios, translating a theme of duality in their appearance – the contrast of visual distortion and precision, the stillness and movement in form and the surface deception between synthetic and natural. Whilst challenging and pushing his material to the limits, often using clay bodies in ways they are not designed for, Edwards purposely exploits unexpected outcomes. Creating a sense of unease, during the making his clay cracks and buckles, resulting in permanent scars that illustrate the extremes that have been asked of it. Purely aesthetic, these fissures within the surface are an important counter point to the idealised sugary-hued confectionery layered rings. Edwards has exhibited his work at premiere contemporary design and craft shows including British Ceramics...
