Soffiato glass charger plate designed by Salviati & Co. Great decorative piece, created at the Murano island in Venice Italy by the Salviati & Co. This flat charger was crafted during the art deco period back in the early 1920 by the blown glass process. Made up in transparent amber glass with the upper rim accented by a stripe made up from blue pate d verre. Soffiato Glassblowing or Soffiato in Italian, is a glass forming technique that involves inflating molten glass into a bubble with the aid of a blowpipe. A person who blows glass is called a glassblower, glassmith, or gaffer. The word come from soffietta, a tool used as a puffer to further inflate a vessel after it has been removed from the blowpipe and is attached to the pontil. It consists of a curved metal tube attached to a conical nozzle. The glassblower reheats the vessel, inserts the nozzle into its mouth so that the aperture is blocked, and then inflates the vessel by blowing through the tube. Salviati & Co. Art glass vase designed by Emmanuel Babled (1967-) for Venini. An extremely rare artistic vase, created in the island of Murano by the sculptor Emmanuel Babled, back in the 2004. This sculptural tall vase is part of a limited edition of only 9 piece made by the Venini company from Venice. It is made in the shape of a sublime woman torso, blown in 3 colors of cased glass and finished with a delicate wheel carving. Technique: Blown art glass, triple cased, etched and carved at the wheel. Measures: 450.85 by 196.85 mm (17.75 by 7.75 Inches) Edition: Number 4 of 9. Vetro calcedonio vase by Napoleone Martinuzzi for Venini Murano ca. 1930s. A very rare Murano art glass vase attributed to Napoleone Martinuzzi around 1930. Manufactured by Cappelin in the 1920s or Venini in the 1930s. Thin hand blown malachid (calcedonio) glass with curved handles on each side. Similar to Venini model number 3255. This model was produced in different glass types. The vase is not signed. It was bought from a very famous collection in the 1990s. Reach out for more information on the provenance. Measures: Height: 9.06" (23 cm) Diameter: 6.3" (16 cm) Napoleone Martinuzzi (1892 -1977) was an Italian sculptor and designer who left his mark on Italian glass art in particular. As graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, he worked with Ca' Pesaro artists and exhibited at Ca' Pesaro in 1908. In the 1920s he was appointed as Director of the Murano glass Museum. In 1925 he founded Venini & Co. with Paolo Venini and others, of which he took over the artistic direction. For Venini he created stunning creations in soffiato, opaque and pulegoso glass that received international recognition with many awards. His creations of animals, fruits and succulent plants gained international success too. The Cenedese Glassworks , Seguso Vetro d'Arte and Pauly & Co were his last creative stations.
