Pair of Napoleon III Marble and Gilt Bronze Vases, 19th Century
About the Item
Pair of large, green marble vases with ormolu mounts and two gilt bronze handles. The handles are richly decorated with foliage and meet the body of the vases in the form of a bearded head. Flowery ormolu garlands wraparound the body of the vase to join the heads. Each vase rests on a circular base sculpted with twisting grooves and acanthus leaves and the entirety rests on a square plinth decorated with ormolu pearls,
circa 1880.
