Persian brass cutwork ewer and basin set, early 20th century An exquisite 3-piece ensemble consisting of a circular basin, cover and Ewer which have been intricately engraved with several bands of decoration in geometrical and vegetal cutwork. The body of the Ewer is extensively decorated with cutwork geometrical patterns throughout the body, spout, lid and beautiful engravings on its handle. The basin and cover feature symmetrical floral and geometric cutwork highlighting its grandeur. These pieces are very popular in Islamic culture as they were used for various purposes including for the Islamic Ritual of Wudu (Ablution) as well as for washing hands in between meals.
