Explore the beauty and uniqueness of Severin Brørby's legendary Furu vase from Hadeland Glassworks. Brørby's creative genius and nature-inspired designs have led to the creation of this timeless piece, part of the Furu series launched around 1975 under the name Slind. Background: Hadeland Glassworks, one of Norway's oldest glassworks, boasts a proud tradition of producing high-quality craftsmanship. Severin Brørby began his career at Hadeland Glassworks in 1956, where he worked alongside other talented designers such as Willy Johansson and Arne Jon Jutrem. Together, they shaped the artistic profile of the glassworks, establishing it as a leading center for glass design in Scandinavia. The Furu Series: Severin Brørby's inspiration for the Furu series stemmed from his deep connection to nature and his surroundings. During a walk in the forests near Hadeland Glassworks in the mid-1970s, Brørby collected pine branches. These natural elements sparked his imagination, leading him to envision incorporating the intricate texture and pattern of pine needles into his glass designs. Brørby's keen observation of the forest's beauty and his appreciation for its organic forms inspired him to experiment with capturing the essence of the pine tree in glass. Through a meticulous process of observation, experimentation, and innovation, Brørby translated the intricate details of pine branches into the relief motif that became synonymous with the Furu series. The Furu vase captures the essence of Norway's forests, with its organic forms and textured surface evoking the rugged beauty of the Scandinavian landscape. Each vase is a testament to Brørby's mastery of glassmaking and his ability to infuse his designs with a sense of natural beauty and tranquility. This glass vase, with its delicate pine pattern, not only offers a timeless aesthetic but also incorporates elements of organic modernism and a Flora & fauna motif into your home. With its natural pattern, the vase brings the beauty of nature indoors in a modern and elegant way. The harmonious blend of glass and pine evokes a sense of tranquility and connection to nature, while the modern design ensures a fresh and sleek expression. Add a touch of organic modernism and Flora & fauna motif to your home with this unique glass vase. Versatility in Style: Perfect for various interior styles, this vase seamlessly integrates into a Japandi style with its minimalist elegance and connection to nature. Additionally, its unique design and artistic flair make it a standout piece in an eclectic style, adding character and charm to any space. The result was a stunning collection of glassware that not only showcased Brørby's technical skill but also celebrated the natural beauty of Norway's forests. The Furu series stands as a testament to Brørby's ability to blend artistry with nature, creating timeless pieces that continue to captivate admirers to this day. • Willy Johansson for Hadeland Norway Art-Glass "Atlantic" Tall Vase
    By Willy Johansson, Hadeland
    Located in Atlanta, GA
This beautiful art glass vase was designed by Willy Johansson (1921 - 1993) for Hadeland Glassverk, Norway. It is smooth to the touch, but the appearance looks heavily textured with ribs and bubbles trapped in glass. From the Atlantic series, this vase has a cylindrical fluted shape in heavy lead crystal clear glass with deep ribbed sides and internal bubbles in the lower half of the vase. Finely flat ground and highly polished top with an overhang style lip, this art-glass has a nice modernist flair. The vase is signed on the underside and reads Hadeland - WJ. Measurements: 4.75 in diameter (12 cm) x 10 in high (25.5 cm). Note: Willy Johansson was a (1921- 1993) Norwegian glassware designer. Between 1939-42, he studied Statens Handvaerks -og Kunstindustriskole Oslo. His father was at the Hadelands Glassverk, Jevnaker, where Johansson joined the glassmaking workshop in 1936. He was best known for the white rim on his clear or smoked glassware...
