Stoneware Vase by Claude Gaget - La Borne, 1970, Mountains and Sunset decor

About the Item

Stoneware vase by Claude Gaget - La Borne - 1970 - Mountains and Sunset decor Enamelled vase, it is made of stoneware and is glazed in earthy, shaded tones. It presents a very original work on the material. The inspiration is brutalist. It's typical of the La Borne's work. It is in a very good condition. --------------------------------------- One of the greatest French ceramists of La Borne, Claude Gaget born in 1948 studied science in Paris, but his interest in pottery led him to meet Pierre Mestre and to work with clay in his workshop. Since 1974, he shares his life with the ceramist Claudine Monchaussé. Passionate about old stoneware, he produces utilitarian pieces but also turns to sculpted themes: trees, chairs, life atmospheres, landscapes, portraits. His modelled work is covered with engobes. The firing is done in a wood-fired kiln. Her universe is imaginative, fantastic and poetic.
