Vintage French Ceramic Bird Flower Vase by Albert Thiry 'circa 1970s'

About the Item

Mid-century French ceramic flower vase by Albert Thiry (circa 1970s). A charming piece with a chalk-white glaze which is complemented by a delicate, pale blue on the bird's feathers. The markings and colouring are quintessential Albert Thiry with individual flower holes making for a very unique decorative piece. It is signed 'Thiry' on the underside. This particular piece was offered by the artist to a friend as a gift. In good overall condition. Please enjoy the many photos that accompany this listing. Upon request a video will be provided. This gallery finds that Thiry's works are more and more in demand in overdue recognition of his artistic creativity. About the Artist: Albert Thiry (1932-2009) was born in Nice, France. His family moved to Vallauris where he spent most of the school holidays in the potteries; in 1956 he was taken on as an assistant decorator with an opportunity to make his own pieces. Albert and his wife, Pyot, set up their own pottery in 1961. Their standard production, in Vallauris clay with added grog to emphasise rusticity, resulted in delightful pieces both highly elaborate and utilitarian.
