Submerged Murano Glass Ashtray, attributed to Barovier & Toso, Italy, 1970s

About the Item

Submerged Murano glass ashtray, attributed to Barovier & Toso, Italy, 1970s, was purchased by my great-grandfather in Venice. Small signs of the time. Very rare object to find today. Barovier & Toso is a Murano glass company in Venice. The entrepreneurial activity of the Barovier family began in the mid-13th century and for this reason it is the sixth oldest family business in the world still in business. As Fratelli Barovier it was refounded in 1878, thus becoming Artisti Barovier. In 1942, with the merger with the F.lli Toso glassworks, it assumed its current name.
