20th Century Novelty Silver Plate Blue Glass Walrus Claret Jug Decanter Carafe

A charming and highly unusual mid century silver plated wine bottle holder in the shape of a Dachshund / teckel or sausage dog. Made in Spain in c. 1950, this is a very rare model. In all likelihood it was a private commission. It features two bottle holders supported on the back of a dachshund dog, whose head, tail and feet are all beautifully and realistically modelled. Original zoomorphic pitcher ewer in the shape of a partridge. Beautiful item made of silver plate for the head of the partridge nicely chiseled showing the lovely texture of feathers and blown blue glass for the body part, with a handle on the back.
