Antique Victorian Black Forest Carved Wood & Glass Cave a Liqueur Tantalus Box

A rare antique Victorian Black Forest carved wood and glass cave a liqueur / tantalus cabinet set. circa 1880 Exquisitely hand-crafted in the late 19th century, Continental European, most likely German or Swiss, having a rectangular shaped case adorned with hand-carved pendants and incised detailing, beveled glass panels at sides and top, the hinged top and front lifting open to reveal a removable serving tray with ornate gilt bronze ormolu handle, surrounded by four hand-blown hourglass shaped decanter liquor bottles with stoppers, accompanied by eight stemmed glass cordials, the service tray fitted for sixteen cordials, over gadrooned base, rising on bracket feet. Dimensions: (approx) 11.5" High, 15.5" Wide, 11.75" Deep, 17 lbs total Detailed Condition Report: Great original antique condition with beautifully aged warm rustic distressed patina. Lacking eight cordial glasses. Retaining original antique character marks and rustic charm throughout, all wear consistent with age and indicative of use, including evidence of minor losses and old restorations to base molding, glass top with some surface scratches. Delivered cleaned, waxed, with hand rubbed polished French patina finish, ready for immediate use and generational enjoyment!

    A magnificent antique Black Forest carved three piece mantel clock and garniture set. circa 1880 Swiss or German, late 19th century, a truly extraordinary work of art, exceptionally executed, intricately sculpted and finely detailed throughout, hand carved from a single block of wood, featuring a leaping stag deer over elaborate naturalistic foliage, a pair of pheasants with inset glass eyes, wooden dial with gilt incised Roman numeral hour markers and eight day time-and-strike movement, sculptural interwoven root carvings on a conforming molded edge base, flanked by a hunting dog and mountain rescue dog, both with inset glass eyes, retaining the original pressed glass spill vases.
