1900 Primitive Handmade Large Farmhouse Wooden Crate
About the Item
A primitive hand-carved "Molle" or wooden crate from the south of Germany. The word Molle is the old-german word for trough or the act of hollowing out an object. This large wooden crate has been used to transport food items for centuries on farms in the south of Germany. Its humble construction and centuries of wear give this item a bespoke and unique patina. The metal hardware is beaten up and adds to the farmhouse character.
Due to its large size, this will be the perfect display piece on a farmhouse table or kitchen island. Use simply as a decorative object or to display fruits or other kinds of foods.
The wood has cracks, that are consistent with its age and add to the history and charm of this humble object.
