1970s Pewter Bowls and Vases by Gjlla Giani for Sormani Nucleo, Italy

About the Item

The Space Age had its own accessories: elements that looked like spaceships or radars. In the early Seventies, Gjlla Giani designed for Sormani Nucleo of Arosio, Italy, a vast series of table accessories, such as vases, ash-trays, desk sets, fruit bowls and even lamps. They looked very futurist, but were carried out in pewter 95%, a precious time-honored material used also in medieval houses. An example of how modern creativity and traditional materials can perfectly match. This set equally adapts to contemporary and traditional homes. The fruit bowl has a couple of small dents (covered once it is filled) and the other pieces are in very good condition. Just a slight patina and normal wear and tear. All items are engraved by the manufacturer on the bottom and they carry name of manufacturer and of designer. They come with a “Certificate of Authenticity” on original letterhead of the manufacturer.
