Rare "Nude and Dove" Serving Bowl from Vallauris, 1940s

About the Item

Beautifully composed and gorgeously glazed in jet black and sky blue tones, this rare serving bowl was created by one of the artists producing high quality ceramic ware in the pottery town of Vallauris, France after World War II, the same town where Picasso did his famous pottery work with Madoura. Depicting a female nude and dove, this piece was sold as part of a set of dishes featuring mermaids and fish. The edges of the figure are incised into the clay, creating a white defining line.
