Ruby Red Bowl with 24-Carat Gold Finishes in Blown Murano Glass, 1990s, Italy

About the Item

Ruby red bowl with 24-carat gold finishes in blown Murano glass, 1990s, Italy This beautiful bowl is made with colorful ruby-red glass and gold rhombus patterns. The peculiar technique utilized to create the gold patterns is called (oro rotto) broken gold, where a gold leaf is broken and merged with color paste during the manufacturing process. The handle is made with a decorative white sphere with submerged gold and striped patterns. This artwork was entirely handmade in the island of Murano, Venice during 1990s, and it is in perfect condition, as documented in the attached photos.
