Set of Six Enamel Lotus Bowls by Grete Prytz Kittelsen for Cathrineholm, 1960s

About the Item

This set of bowls, model Lotus, was designed by Grete Prytz Kittelsen for Cathrineholm, in Norway, during the 1960's. This specific design was produced between 1962-1965. It is a complete set made of enamel metal in white with orange lotus leaves design, that combined simple, plain colors with elemental shapes. The result is colorful, durable, and practical pieces. As Grete said "I want to design things that are not only decorative, but also utilitarian". They were produced in a large number of color combinations as red, orange, yellow, white, royal blue, light blue, light green, beige, olive green, brown and black, usually in combination with a white bowl/colored lotus or colored bowl/white lotus. The set is in original and good vintage condition, with small age related marks.
