Antique French Louis XVI Style Jardiniere

About the Item

Here is a lovely Antique French Louis XVI style jardiniere with blue glass insert. The cobalt blue glass insert of this antique jardinière or planter from the Louis XVI era immediately catches your eye. A sturdy frame detailed with garlands holds the removable insert in place and makes it easy to carry the planter. Which place in your home or garden would benefit from a color boost. An antique French Louis XVI style jardiniere with a blue glass insert that was made in the 1920s is a piece of decorative art from the Art Deco period. During the 1920s, the Art Deco movement was in full swing, and many decorative arts such as furniture, lighting, and home accessories were designed in this style. While the Louis XVI style dates back to the late 18th century, it was still popular in the early 20th century and was often reproduced during the Art Deco period. Jardineres from this time may have been made from a variety of materials, including bronze, brass, and other metals, and may have featured motifs such as geometric patterns, stylized flowers, and animal forms.

Measures approx. 2”H x 1.5”W x 0.5”D More about this item: Reliquaries have been used for centuries to house and venerate relics, which are usually the physical remains of saints, such as bones, fragments of clothing, or objects associated with them. A reliquary medallion typically consists of a small container, often made of precious materials such as gold, silver, or bronze, that holds the relic securely. In the case of this wooden reliquary, the container has a wooden framework or casing. The relic itself is enclosed within a small compartment or visible through a transparent rock crystal, allowing believers to view and venerate the relic without direct contact. The medallion format indicates that it is designed to be worn or carried as a personal devotional item. It could be attached to a chain or worn as a pendant around the neck, or kept close by as a cherished possession. French reliquaries...
