Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Covered Dish Bowl in Rope Pattern 290a from 1920s

About the Item

Georg Jensen Danish divided vegetable serving bowl in the blossom pattern. Blossom buds on two sides across from each other. Measuring 12 inches long, 9 inches wide, and 2 3/4 inches tall. Weighing 36.9 troy ounces. Bearing hallmarks as shown. Georg Jensen, a Danish silversmith, set up his own silver business in 1904 in Copenhagen. Jensen's training in metalsmithing along with his education in the fine arts allowed him to combine the two disciplines and revive the tradition of the artist craftsman. Soon, the beauty and quality of his creations caught the eye of the public and his success was assured. The Copenhagen quarters were greatly expanded and before the end of the 1920s, Jensen had opened retail in Berlin (1909), London (1921), and New York (1924).
