English Delft pancake plate, Long tailed bird, London, c. 1750.

About the Item

Rare English delft pancake plate, London c. 1750. Naively hand painted to the centre, in polychrome enamels of underglaze blue, manganese, green and iron red, with an amusingly oversized long tailed bird perched amongst foliage, above a fence. The border with a continuous band of chequered motif. Diameter – 23 cm, 9 1/4”. Condition – Small chip to the reverse, typical glaze fritting to the rim. No restoration.
