French Gien Renaissance Hand Painted Porcelain or Faience Vase with Handles
About the Item
Elegant vase is round in shape and stands on a circular base with cobalt blue background for hand painted grotesque decorations inspired by fifteenth-century Italy. The motifs in yellow, white and brown highlights depict chimeras, scrolls, bearded men, masks, children.
This Italian Renaissance decoration on a blue background also called Gien décor was developed around 1871.
Stamp from the Gien manufactory with hand-painted mention and monogram of the painter-decorator
Good condition with one little chip on the base.
