Signed Antique 18th Century German Tin Glazed Fayence Pottery Shaving Bowl

About the Item

A fine antique German fayence (or faience) pottery shaving bowl. Marked for Wallendorf. In a white ground tin-glazed pottery richly decorated with blue, green, yellow and brown underglaze flowers and foliage. With a cutaway to the rim for the chin. Bearing an inscription around the rim that reads: "Wann ich mit meiner Schüssel komm, so denkt der Herr das Jahr ist rumm" which translates as "When I come with my bowl, the Lord thinks that the year is over". Simply a fine antique German Fayence shaving bowl! Date: 18th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Condition Details: With some slight losses to the glaze at the corners of the rim. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Marks: Marked to the reverse with an underglaze W (possibly for Wallendorf). Measurements: Diameter: ca. 8 1/2 in. Height: ca. 2 1/4 in. Items purchased from this dealer must delight you.
