18thC Georgian Monteith or Bonnet Glass Hand Blown & Engraved Bowl, circa 1750
About the Item
This is a very good hand-blown, English, mid-Georgian, Monteith or Bonnet Glass, dating from the middle of the 18th century, circa 1750.
It is made from English lead glass which is relatively heavy and has a soft grey colour.
The Cup bowl is well engraved with a pheasant in flight ( possible Jacobite motif) and a flower sprig to the other side, sitting on a short stem over a flat foot with a snapped off pontil below to the underside. The lower bowl and stem are twist wrythen moulded. There are no chips, cracks or any evidence of restoration.
Overall a good example of mid 18th Century Georgian Glass.
