Fabulous Aesthetic Movement Blue Baccarat Crystal glass Prunus Gilded Vase c1890

About the Item

A fabulous Aesthetic Movement bright blue and deeply gilded Baccarat Crystal vase. This bright blue was one of their signature colours -it is also deeply gilded in the Baccarat raised gilding technique, showing blooming branches of a prunus like plant. The raised technique is most noticeable in the flowers see the first picture. Many of these designs were created by famous glass artists such as Ernest-Baptiste Leveillé and Eugene Rouseau -unfortunately we have been unable to identify this pattern and attribute it to a particular designer associated to Baccarat, who also used many unnamed inhouse creators. Baccarat still exists today and has been the creator of the finest crystal for hundreds of years. The last quarter of the 19th century was probably their greatest period.
