Storyteller: Once upon a time, a pair of stunning opaque trumpet-shaped opaline vases were passed down to a family by their ancestors. The family valued the vases greatly since they served as reminders of their rich cultural background and were priceless works of art. The vases were adorned with intricately hand-painted floral patterns and vibrant birds watching over their nests and feeding the baby chicks. The vases' overall beauty was enhanced by the tasteful gilding on the rims and edges. These are older than a century old and were produced in France between 1850 and 1920. The vases were flawless, with no signs of chips or breaks despite their advanced age. The family was aware that one of the vase's bases had a diameter that was roughly 0.5 cm smaller than the other's. They were a little perplexed by this, but it just served to emphasize the vases' distinctive personality. Age had caused some of the gold to fade over time, but the vases had managed to keep their beauty and allure. Opaline vases were cherished by the family and were passed down from one generation to the next, becoming a representation of the family's past and customs. Visitors were in awe and appreciated the vases as they were proudly on display in the family's living room. As the years passed, the family started to have financial issues. They were forced to make the painful choice to part with some of their priceless items in order to make ends meet. The most precious pieces were the opaline vases, which were listed last on the list to be sold. The family was split between the vases' sentimental importance and their financial difficulties. Yet after learning about the family's predicament, a wealthy art collector who loved the opaline vases expressed interest in buying the vases. The vases' exquisite design and fine craftsmanship astounded the collector, who was anxious to include them in his collection. He generously offered the family enough cash for the vases to get them out of their financial jam. The collector's offer was welcomed and gratefully accepted by the family. They unwillingly bid goodbye to the opaline vases, but they were consoled by the knowledge that the collector would treat the vases with care and appreciation. Those who viewed the vases were in amazement and admiration as they spread their beauty and allure. The opaline vases' tale ended there, but their legacy persisted, reminding the family of their rich cultural history and the sacrifices they had to make in order to succeed. About the storyteller: Consider the storyteller to be a figment of the vendor's imagination. As to how this tale relates to the actual histories of the artifacts on display, that is a mystery. We sincerely hope that you enjoyed the story. Ash

However, as a result of conquests and colonial Expansion, this fascination saw the displacement of its origins. During the 18th century, Chinese and Turkish styles invaded the salons and gardens of royalty as well as affluent esthetes who prided themselves on their taste for The Orient. From then on, baths were Turkish, furniture was lacquered, Persian tapestries...
