- Moser Pitcher With Enameled Bird And SalamanderBy MoserLocated in New Orleans, LAFantastic wildlife decoration distinguishes this rare Moser glass pitcher. Crafted of luminous amber glass, this pitcher is adorned with the signature Moser gilded fern leaves and berries, including an enameled three-dimensional bee and a colorful bird perched on a branch. Most exceptional is the intrepid salamander, cloaked in jewel-like colors, which serves as the pitcher’s handle. Such unparalleled artistry placed Moser among the most desirable art glass in the world. To find such an amazing piece of this Bohemian craft today, in such excellent condition, is quite rare. Encouraged by the Austro-Hungarian governments, Ludvik Moser quickly excelled as a glass artist while serving an apprenticeship under accomplished artist O.J. Mattoni. Through working with the Health Spa at Karlsbad, producing and decorating glassware for serving the healing waters found at the spa, Moser quickly acquired a following and demand for his work. By 1857, Moser was able to open his shop full of bright, glistening chandeliers and mirrors, which further illuminated his glass creations. Moser quickly acquired a noble clientele and displayed his work at exhibitions around the world. Some of his well-known patrons included Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, Pope Pius XI and King Farouk of Egypt...Category
