  • 12 Exceptional Modernist Steuben Baluster Water Goblets
    By Steuben Glass
    Located in Litchfield, CT
Circa 1940, by the Steuben Glass Works, Corning, NY. Known as the #7877 baluster stem, this is the most coveted of all modernist glasses. Intended as a water glass, today these goblets find more usage as wine goblets. This George Thompson design is perfectly balanced, deliciously heavy in the hand, and visually pleasing, while conspicuously modern. Excellent condition. Remarks: “Steuben is authentic American chic. Perfect in any décor, and exceptional in a mid-century setting - think Vladimir Kagen or George Nakashima furniture.” SIZE: 6 3/4 inches high and 3 5/8 inch diameter HALLMARKS: Steuben acid...

  • 1851 Imperial Vienna Porcelain 27 piece Service for 18, very rare
    By Royal Vienna Porcelain
    Located in San Francisco, CA
This extremely rare partial set of dinner service was produced at the Royal Vienna Factory in 1851 under the direction of Baron Leithner, ten years before the factory closed. During Leithner's direction, the factory and it's artists were still known for their splendid and expensive gilding which is displayed on each of the pieces in this set. I purchased this set in the later 1980s from Butterfield and Butterfield, and was told that it was consigned by the estate of a Austrian woman who brought the dishes over from Vienna. Purported the set was part of a very large set of dishes belonging to the household of the Empress Elizabeth...
