About the Item

A majolica glazed handled and footed tray from Samuel Alcock & Co, Burslem, Staffordshire, England, circa 1850. A strawberry, grape cluster, floral and leaf motif on a shaped tray with a vine border on a brown ground. Bold glazing with leaves uniquely colored half green and half yellow. The color and glazing technique is distinctive to Alcock majolica pottery. The mottled blue, green and brown glazing to the verso is also a hallmark of Alcock. Measures: 10.5 in. L x 9 in. W x 2 in. H In very good antique condition, light surface firing kiln effects to the purple grapes, in the making.
