Pair of Antique English Grand Tour Portrait Plaques "Hera & Rhodus"

About the Item

Pair of antique English grand tour portrait 12" Plaques, "Hera & Rhodus". Both by Hancock A Son, Worcester with remnants of exhibition labels, in later 15" d composition circular frames. Plaque I: Rhodus Signed on front Lower Left Julia C. Bellot 1882, Copyright Painted by Julia Cecilia Bellot 1 Royal Avenue, Chelsea Plaque II: Hera (Not titled on plaque) Signed on back "Painted by Herbert M. Bellot, Royal Avenue Chelsea S.W. 20/3/82". Discover timeless beauty in this pair of antique English grand tour portrait 12" plaques titled "Hera and Rhodus". Exquisitely crafted by renowned creators, Hancock A Son of Worcester, these plaques retain elements of exhibition labels, beautifully encased in 15" composition circular frames. Both pieces exude a profound narrative, intricately told through the elegant strokes of their respective artists. One plaque vividly captures Rhodus, signed in a neat handwritten script in the lower left by Julia C. Bellot in 1882. Our second plaque presents the regal image of Hera – while unlabeled, it proudly displays a signature on the back, hand-painted by Herbert M. Bellot. The artworks of this majestic set originate from England, embracing the bold aesthetic of the Grand Tour, typical of the late 19th Century. Despite minor structural damages consistent with their age, the plaques emanate a sense of timeless splendor and make magnificent additions to any antique collection.
