About the Item

I am offering you this spectacular large "Royal Vienna" Porcelain plaque, which is artist signed Forster. The plaque is entitled "Herse opfert der Minerva" on its back. Herse was the daughter of Cecrops. She is the beautiful lady dressed in a white flowing robes in the painting. The four ladies in their flowing robes are walking barefoot carrying baskets of flowers on their heads to give the flowers as an offering to Minerva at the Acropolis. Minerva was the Italian goddess of handicrafts who presided over the arts especially dramatic poets and actors. The plaque is 16.5 inches in diameter.
