A 19th century Austrian majolica charger from the Gebruder Schutz factory C 1890

About the Item

This rich three dimensionally decorated wall charger is a majolica pottery highly decorative example by the well regarded Austrian Gebruder Schutz factory. It is circular with a deep relief design of a naturalistic view of a row of three baby birds perched on a slender stem with sunflowers and clematis rising above in a semi-circular design in mixed tones of light brown over a vivid blue ground with an incised floral and foliate pattern. A most eye catching and pleasing piece of wall art. It is in very good condition with no damage or restoration and fully marked on the reverse.
