Arne Bang, Marmelade Jar, Stoneware with Silver Lid and Spoon, Denmark, 1930’s

About the Item

Arne Bang, silver lidded marmelade jar with fine fluted exterior and covered with a charming speckled glaze in tones of green, creme, gray and blues. It carries a silver lid with a handle made of painted (worn) wood and dated 1939, which is also the production period of the stoneware pot. Following is a silver spoon of a bit older date, -not originally belonging, but serves a purpose. The jar is in very good condition without any dammages, chips or repairs.

    Large Palshus table lamp made in chamotte clay stoneware with checkered pattern on the low part of the body in shades of brown. The lamp is signed by incising in the bottom and has model # DL26/1 and is in very good condition with no chips, marks or repairs. Per Linnemann (1912-1999) was the son of Danish sculptor Willie Wulff. Later he took the name of his stepfather Schmidt. Per entered the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen in 1931 and worked as a sculptor, when he was between 30 and 40 years old, specializing in portraits. In 1949 he opened Palhus Stenøj (sandstone) with his wife Annelise Linnemann-Schmidt (born Sprechler). They settled in a house to work and live there. This was located in Sengeløse outside of Copenhagen. Per created and his wife ran their business. The items were sold in the Den Permanente department store in Copenhagen.
