Signed Burmantoft's Country Cottage Faience Plaque

About the Item

This interesting example of Burmantofts Faience is created on a flat disk/plaque and decorated with raised and molded decoration with a very detailed and defined 2-dimensional design. The glaze slip is applied and fired in many layers creating fabulous shading giving the subject great depth. The very English cottage scene is a charming view on country life in the late 19th c. and is a wonderful decorative "painting".
