About the Item
A Staffordshire Pottery Model of an English Cottage
This larger sized Staffordshire pottery model of an English country estate folly type of cottage is of a most unusual design. The centre is circular and three-storey with a rectangular wing to each side. The extended roof forms a canopy across the sides which are supported on twisted columns. The cottage has gothic style windows and three of these have been pierced through to let the light shine through in a most realistic manner from a candle which can be placed into a small opening in the back making this novel cottage glow at night. Minor glazing cracks and paint loses. Circa 1860.
