About the Item
A very ornate burgundy red and gilt dessert service with lidded compotiers and serving plates, each piece hand-painted with a floral design on a painted backdrop .
The borders are embossed with white and gilt leaf designs, the all very highly decorated and probably made for a special occasion.
English, possibly Ridgway or Daniel, circa 1850.
