English Silver Plate Covered Pair Entree Dishes
About the Item
English silver plate pair of rectangular entrée dishes with detachable top handles and exterior cast bead borders design detail. The reversible tops can be used as separate open dishes. Great condition with minor wear. Maker's mark undersigned & numbered. Each piece measures 10 1/2 inches long x 7 1/2 inches wide x 3 inches high without the top handle.

Dr John Wright had conducted important experiments on electroplating, Walker secured the royalty of electroplating for Sheffield. The business was joined by Henry Hall and became in 1853 Walker & Hall. The factory was at Howard Street, Sheffield, while showrooms were opened in 45 Holborn Viaduct, London. Branches were opened in Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Cardiff, Belfast, Hull, Bristol, Melbourne and Adelaide (Australia), Cape Town (South Africa).
