Gorham Sterling Silver Butter Knife & Spoon, Versailles Pattern

About the Item

These two pieces of Gorham sterling silver flatware are decorated with the Versailles pattern, which was introduced in 1888. The butter knife, or possibly a pickle knife, is 165 mm (6.5 inches) in length and weighs 34 gms. The spoon measures 153 mm (6 inches) in length, 38 mm (1.5 inches) across the bowl, and weighs 29 gms. Both pieces are in good condition, but the spoon appears to have had something dropped across the bowl, very slightly distorting the edges. Both pieces carry the Gorham mark that was used in the period 1897-1900.
