Large French Faience Figural Bison Pate Terrine by Michel Caugant

About the Item

A large vintage figural recumbent Bison Pâté Terrine made for Laurent Caugant, a Bretagne pâté maker since 1927. His son Michel created these figural forms as containers for selling his fathers pâté in their luxury food shop. The two-piece terrine is made and glazed by hand, the lid lifts off to show a shallow serving bowl. The bottom is printed: Cette piece en faience veritable, a ete entirement realisee a la main. Je nous la propose en exclusivite. – Michel Caugant. Translation: This piece is true faience and was made entirely by hand. I want to recommend it exclusively.
