About the Item
A Lalique-style glass, a rare Verlys opalescent glass Art Deco glass & wine bottle coaster.
Model identified in the 1934 Verlys catalog (see images).
A rare collector's item of raised relief.
The base (dessous de carafe) in heavy molded glass, with the Verlys fish pattern. Engraved and signed "Verlys France" model 1455.

Societe Holophane Français was founded as a subsidiary of the Holophane Company in the USA in a glassworks near Rouen in northern France in 1920, producing headlights for luxury vehicles.
In 1925, they expanded to produce art glass vases and bowls and established a department for these products, which they called Verlys.
Initially, they produced blown vases with several layers of glass, smooth on the outside and decorated on the inside.
From 1933 onwards they concentrated on high quality pressure molded glass.
