Antique Silver Plated Covered Urn or Chalice with Figural Top
About the Item
This antique silver plated covered urn or chalice shows no maker's marks but is presumed to have been made in England in circa 1900 in the period Edwardian style. This chalice could have been made for the purposes of a trophy as it has figural stylized leaves running down the sides that could be used to engraving. This pillar shaped urn has a figural top of a bearded male nobleman appearing to raise his cup in the air over his head for a ceremonial toast. The casting is very detailed and shows the face and costume in a very realistic style from all sides. The stepped base is done with a series of raised or beaded decoration.
