Large Antique Silver Plated Nef or 3 Mast Sailing Ship Sculpture or Centerpiece

About the Item

This large and substantial Nef is unsigned, but presumed to have originated from Germany and date to approximately 1900 and done in a Spanish Colonial style. This ship is composed of silver plate and is a three mast gallion with a figural bowsprit and rudder. The sides of the ship are decorated with nude women riding serpents and fish in relief and there are cast people and cannons on the various decks. There are several sails and considerable wire rigging and the ship rests on four cast and plated wheels. This nef does come with a hand-crafted walnut one sided pedestal base which allows it to be displayed in a stationary position. Please note the posted dimensions refer to the Nef itself and with the wooden base, and ship stands four inches higher in height.
