Rare Antique English Biscuit Box - 28 lb Weight c.1870

About the Item

Always highly sought-after, these novelty "weight" biscuit boxes came in two sizes; this one is the smaller box which is the harder to find; it would look perfect next to it's larger example. The lid has a ring handle to the top the lid is engraved "Biscuits". There is a button to the front which opens the hinged lid. The front is engraved lb 28. . The lid is where the full English makers mark can be found for the silversmiths, Jonas & George Bowen of Birmingham, this mark used between 1859 and 1879. Excellent condition with a base diameter measures 5 1/8" x 7 1/4" to the top of the ring handle. Item: 42100 Free Worldwide Registered Airmail Directly From the UK
