1929 Sterling Silver Water/Cordial Jug

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V sterling silver water/cordial jug; part of our dining silverware collection. This exceptional, fine and impressive antique sterling silver jug has a plain hexagonal baluster shaped form onto a hexagonal spreading foot. The body of this impressive sterling silver water jug is embellished with panels of fine bright cut engraved decoration, depicting scrolling foliate motifs. This impressive example of antique silver is fitted with an angular handle ornamented with a scrolling lower terminal. The exceptional water/cordial jug retains the original gilt interior. This magnificent antique silver jug is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire. Condition This sterling silver water jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The bright cut engraved decoration is crisp and the hallmarks are deeply struck. Full hallmarks struck to the base of the jug are all very clear. The underside of the jug bears the retailer's mark 'Mappin & Webb, London'. This impressive jug was crafted by the renowned London silversmith John Newton Mappin of Mappin & Webb, and is a large example for its type. Condition This antique silver water jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. This exceptional antique George V sterling silver caddy spoon has a plain rounded bowl. The surface of the bowl and upper portion of the handle have a planished finish. The handle is embellished with a cast and applied panel depicting a rose bush with a paralleling rope twist decorated border. The handle terminal is further ornamented with a scalloped border. This impressive antique 1920s silver caddy spoon was crafted by the renowned silversmith Henry George Murphy; the full hallmarks incorporate Murphy's Falcon Studio mark.
