Antique Edwardian Sterling Silver Presentation Cup and Cover, 1902

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver cup and cover; an addition to our antique presentation silverware collection. This exceptional antique sterling silver trophy cup has a circular bell shaped form onto a knapped circular spreading pedestal foot. The upper portion of this Edwardian cup and cover is embellished with embossed and chased hibiscus floral and foliate designs accented with an incurved shaped border to the lower portion; this segment features a patterned matte background. The decoration to the body incorporates two broad bordered circular vacant cartouches. This impressive presentation cup retains the original hallmarked cover encircled with a simplified geometric style border, in addition to further embossed and chased leaf and hibiscus floral decoration, reflecting the designs to the body. The cover is surmounted with the original and impressive hallmarked cast sterling silver finial realistically modelled in the form of a bull. This antique cup and cover is fitted with two embossed reed decorated handles, each accented with an exceptional leaf decorated upper terminal and lower portion of the handpiece. This fine example of antique silverware is fitted to the original circular painted wood plinth, encircled with a bespoke vacant silver inscription band; the band may be engraved with a personal inscription if so desired. Condition This antique sterling silver trophy cup is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The cup and cover have been professionally polished and are in presentation condition. The embossed, chased and cast decoration is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the cup and rim of the cover, in addition to the part hallmarks to the finial are all very clear.     A fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver soup tureen; an addition to our silver dining collection This fine antique Edwardian sterling silver soup tureen has a plain oval shaped form onto a plain oval domed spreading foot. The surface of this piece is embellished with a bright cut engraved crest of on a chapeau turned up a lion rampant supporting an arrow palewise feathered and headed to one side. This antique silver soup tureen retains the original hallmarked push fit cover, surmounted with the original hallmarked detachable shaped scrolling handle with acanthus leaf decoration. The antique silver soup tureen is fitted with thread decorated loop handles with acanthus leaf terminals. Condition This antique silver soup tureen is an excellent gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition. This piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body have wear in keeping with age and location, but all remain legible.
