Antique Georgian Solid Sterling Silver Toast Rack Regency Style - London 1827

About the Item

We are delighted to offer this majestic Georgian solid silver toast rack made in London 1827 with marks of William Elliott. Featuring a distinguished elegant design and impressive even by itself as a highlighting piece on a breakfast table, this toast rack certainly presents an array of highly desirable features in a fine antique silver toast rack. Practical and generously sized even for modern-day usage, this may just be the perfect piece to complete your breakfast table for an opulent and distinguished experience. The rack is supported by four large applied cast Regency-style feet that present a wonderful lion's paw, winged scrolls and floral motifs. Above the feet, a classical gadrooned border contrasts the upper racks' plain mirror finish. Six slices of toast can be held by the rack, each designed with an attractive curled design. The top features further ornamentation on the handle of foliate design with exquisitely embellished acanthus leaves and scrolls. The quality and gauge of this toast rack are equally impressive as the embellishments with a very heavy and sturdy feel in hand/on the table; this can be fully appreciated when holding it in person as it weighs 404g despite its predominately open design. Owing to its wonderful mix of classical Regency elegance and practicality, this item would make for a very suitable piece of silverware on a dining table in an antique setting or perhaps even as a juxtaposing piece in a modern setting. The rack is hallmarked with English marks on the gadrooned border. *All images with other items are for display purposes, this listing is for the title item only.
