About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique German 800 standard silver flatware service for twelve persons; an addition to our flatware collection. The pieces of this exceptional, fine and impressive antique German silver flatware service for twelve persons have been crafted in a variation of the Laurel and Ribbon pattern. The anterior and posterior surfaces of each rococo inspired handle are embellished with scrolling floral and foliate ornamentation. The anterior of each handle terminal is further ornamented with impressive scrolling decoration forming a cartouche; each cartouche is embellished with the impressive contemporary engraved monogram initials 'AJ'. The posterior of each handle terminal is embellished with a contemporary engraved date. The reverse of each bowl and the anterior of each neck are further ornamented with foliate motifs. This German silver flatware service consists of 60 pieces: Basic Service: 12 table forks 12 table spoons 12 dessert forks 12 dessert spoons 12 teaspoons The hallmarks struck to each component of this antique service with silver spoons. consists of: Maker's mark: WILKENS Silver quality/purity mark: .800 (800/1000) National mark: Crescent moon and crown This antique silver service can be purchased with knives if so desired; for further information please contact Andrew Campbell directly. The stainless steel blades of the original composite handled table and dessert knives bear the mark 'By Appointment to the Late King George V, Viners Ltd, Sheffield' accented with 'Stainless Deluxe'. This impressive canteen of cutlery is fitted to the original, fine and impressive oak three draw canteen table; this is an impressive piece of furniture in its own right. The table is fitted with a pair of Art Deco style gilt metal handles to each drawer, in addition to plain escutcheons. This exceptional cutlery table is supported by four plain legs with tapering knopped feet.
