Antique Imperial Russian Silver Gold Enamel Kovsh Nikolai Antipov Moscow 1896

About the Item

A good antique Imperial Russian silver & cloisonne enamel kovsh, silversmith Nikolai Lakovlev Antipov & assayer Anotoly Apollonovish Artsybashev, Moscow, 1896. The kovsh of traditional form with a shallow bowl and hooked handle, the outside of the bowl and top of the handle is decorated with floral cloisonne, as is the top of the handle. The side of the handle is engraved with a cyrillic dedication. The base is stamped with both the silversmith's and assayer's marks and is dated 1896, silver weight is 48 grams. Condition is very good indeed, no damage or restoration noted. Provenance; Part of a large collection of fine Russian silver, passed through the same family of Russian descent since the early 1900's.
