Antique Sterling Silver Egg Cruet Set for Three Persons

An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique George V English sterling silver egg cruet set with spoons for four persons; part of our dining silverware collection This exceptional antique sterling silver egg cruet set consists of four egg cups and associated spoons displayed on a functional original purpose-made stand with a central carrying handle. The original hallmarked egg cups have a bell shaped form onto a circular spreading foot. These antique silver egg cups are plain and unembellished, with applied moulded decoration to the upper rim of each vessel. Each egg cup is supported and displayed on the navette-shaped stand, ornamented with an impressive applied leaf decorated border to the rim and incorporating a leaf decorated handpiece to either end. The surface of the stand bears four circular receivers enabling the egg cups to stand securely in situ; these supports alternate with integrated, elevated receivers for the four egg spoons. The surface of each handle is embellished with a paralleling thread decorated border accented with a shell design to the terminal and reverse of each bowl. The anterior surface of each spoon and fork handle terminal are ornamented with a contemporary engraved crest of a leopard couchant guardant and collared. The posterior surface of each piece is plain and unembellished, apart from a rounded heel to the bowl of each spoon.
