Antique Sterling Silver Presentation Cigar Case, Royal Crest
About the Item
An attractive and interesting antique sterling silver cigar case.
A lovely substantial and heavy piece, made from smooth high polished sterling silver, the case is gilt lined and still retains most of its rich gilt finish.
The front has an applied sterling silver Royal coat of Arms with lion, unicorn and crown with the Royal Motto.
The cigar case comes with a handwritten note, not signed; This cigar case was given to my uncle William Tipler by Edward VII the then Prince of Wales, when he visited Northampton and my uncle was responsible for organising the catering.
The cigar case has an elastic strap inside for holding the cigars in place.
It is fully hallmarked for sterling silver, Birmingham assay office, 1896, makers mark worn, possibly Minshull Latimer.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some patina, light surface wear, general signs of use, some small dings, opens and closes well.
