Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Galleried Tea Tray

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver galleried tea tray; an addition to our Victorian teaware collection This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver tray has a plain oval form. The surface of this large oval sterling silver tray is ornamented with an impressive volute scrolling wrigglework decorated border accented with bright cut engraved floral motifs, in addition to a scalloped pendant drop design to the outer circumference. The galleried border of this tray is embellished with impressive embossed fluted decoration and scrolling leaf designs, all on a matte background. The gallery incorporates two oval inset handles, accented with applied moulded borders. This Victorian silver tray is further embellished with an applied moulded border to the rim. The underside of the tray features the retailer's mark 'Walker & Hall, Sheffield, England'. Condition This antique silver gallery tray is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the anterior surface of the gallery are very clear; the assay mark has wear in keeping with age and location. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of Victorian silverware.
