International Silver Company Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Childs Bowl & Stand

About the Item

A fine and stylish American Art Nouveau sterling silver child's bowl and stand decorated with the alphabet by the International Silver Company and dating from the early 20th century. The International Silver Company was an amalgamation of a large group of companies formed in 1898 whose headquarters were based in Connecticut. This set comprises of a rounded bowl the raised edge engraved with the letters of the alphabet along with a blank cartouche set within simple line borders. The inner bowl has a gilded finish. The stand or dish is also of rounded shape with a central well which fits the bowl and it too is engraved with the alphabet around the flat edge and with a blank cartouche. Probably intended as christening set both pieces are marked INTERNATIONAL STERLING and are numbered 1084D. The set weighs approximately 201g. In good overall condition with a few minor dings to the inside edge of the stand and a few.
